This is all I could think about when I finished reading the 1st part of Fifty Shades. This is yet another must read book written by E.L James. OK I know some may think this book is just about sex, yes it talks a whole lot about sex….and lots more. You have to read it to understand.
Hmmm all I can say after reading, 2 words; Christian Grey
Okay yes I know he is a frictional character. But there is just something about him that just makes it seem all so real. Right now if you ask me to describe my ideal boyfriend, i’ll say Christian Grey. I give it to E.L James, she did a good job with his character.
hmmm Christian Grey, he is tall…am thinking about 6ft+, beautiful is an understatement, everywhere he goes, jaws drop, he is wealthyand young, he is strong and in control that’s a super plus, he is romantic, yes he has a weird way of showing it, but I mean I love the fact that you can’t predict his next move. He has a “dangerous and dark” side, some how I find that appealing, hey what can I say, I have a thing for bad boys. The best part, he meets a girl, Anastasia Steele and he falls for her and the best part, he is wiling to change for her. Isn’t that not what we all, at least that’s what I want, a guy like Christian who believes am worth his while.
“Women are drawn to imperfect men and our nurturing instincts tell us that with TLC we can change any man that we love, but experience has shown us time and time again that this is is not the case. A woman needs to take a man as he is and if the man cares enough he might make some compromises and adjustment but not necessarily earth-shattering changes. The thing is that we shouldn’t expect a man to change anyway. Women need to find the guy that most closely matches what she wants not someone that could be what she wants.”
So am not gonna lie, I decided to pick up the book and read after my friend went on and on about it being a porno type novel. That was my initial motivation. As I read from page to page, I became drawn into the book, into the ‘fifty shades of Christian Grey’, into the life of an innocent girl who falls for a man with a tainted past, into the excitement of the relationship between Ana and Grey and lastly, into the transformation of the Characters. Okay yes I enjoyed reading the sexual contents, hey its doesn’t hurt to fantasise about a man, not just any man, about Christian Grey.
Pick up the book and read it. I bet you wouldn’t regret it.
O yes, there is a movie coming out. And the buzz at the moment is who should play Christian Grey. I have just one suggestion and this is the only person I am totally happy with to play Christian. And so far by the image below, I seem to not be the only one who thinks so.
here are a few of the other names buzzing;
The novel is about the Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey (blushing). The novel starts with Katherine Kavanagh, Ana’s best friend and room mate of four years asking Ana to please take her place for an interview with Seattle’s very own wealthy and successful young entrepreneur, Christian Grey. An interview she has put in so much effort to make happen. She accepts. While waiting in the of Grey Enterprises Holdings, she notices that Blonde seems to be the criteria. In if my favourite moments in the novel was when she walked into Christian’s office where she makes an unforgettable entrance. Later in the novel, Christian says that the moment he wanted her. Though she is intimidated by his persona and beauty, Ana tries her best to make it through the interview which at the end of, finds herself wishing she could go back in time erase some of the questions she asked but she finally consoles herself with the thought that she would never run into Christian again. If only she knew. While at work, a familiar face walks into the Clayton’s Store, Its Christian Grey. While purchasing various items including cable ties and rope, Ana informs Grey that Katherine wants photographs to go along with the article. Grey leaves Ana with his phone number, causing Ana to realize that she likes him. Katherine pushes Ana to call Grey and arrange a photo shoot with their photographer friend Jose Rodriquez. Kate is so excited at the rear opportunity and instantly pushes Ana to make the call to request for a convenient time and location for the photoshoot.
The next day, Jose, Anna and Katherine arrive just before 9 and begin to set. During the shoot, Grey asks Ana out for coffee. During the coffee date, Grey asks Ana if she’s dating anyone, specifically Jose who seemed to display some kind of interest during the shoot. Ana replies saying that she single and he goes on to ask about her family. From the brief date, Ana get a bit on insight into the fascinating Mr. Grey, he is single but not the boyfriend kinda guy, so he says. Ana is confused by the information but boils it down to the fact that she just might not be attractive enough for the him unlike her friend Kate….if only she knew what the future holds.
Its time for finals and Ana does her best to but the thoughts of Christina behind her and study for her exams. After her final paper, she gets home to find a strange package with her name on it. Thinking it might be from her either of her parents, she opens it to find to find the written inside;
“Why didn’t you tell me there was
danger? Why didn’t you warn me?
Ladies Know what to guard against
because they read novels that tell them
of there tricks……”
To her surprise its from Christian Grey. its the 1st edition copies of Tess of the d’Urbervilles. She is in shock.
Later that evening, She decides to go for celebratory drinks with Kate and Jose. She drinks a little more than the ordinary and obviously motivated by her current situation she drunk dials Grey. He picks up and begins to ask my he sent her the package, ignoring her comments, Grey is more concerned about her welfare. He asks her where she is, “a bar in portland” she replies and hangs up. As she beginngins to feel lightheaded from all the alcohol, she decides to go outside to get some fresh air, where Jose attempts to force a kiss. Trying to pull herself away, she hears a dark voice, “I think the lady said no”, Its Christian Grey. She is beyond shocked.
He decided to take her home but Ana insists on telling Kate before she leaves. She discovers that her friend Katherine has been flirting with Grey’s brother Elliott. Later that morning, Ana wakes to find herself in Grey’s hotel room. After scolding her like a child for not taking proper care of herself. Grey reveals that he would like to have sex with her. But before anything happens, she must sign a Non Disclosure Agreement and a contract, yes the famous contract. This is were all the fun begins.
Contrary to his previous statement about not touching her till she signs the contract, he grabs her, pulls her hair, hand on the side of her face and begins to kiss her in a way that she has never been kissed before.
Ana later goes on a date with Grey on Charlie Tango, his helicopter to his apartment. Once there, Grey insists that she sign a Non Disclosure Agreement forbidding her to discuss anything that they do together, which Ana agrees to sign. He also mentions ‘The Contract’, but first takes her into his playroom, a room full of BDSM toys and gear. As they enter, Grey begins to elaborate on ‘The Contract’ between dominance and submission. Ana shocked by all that is before her tells Grey that she is still a virgin. He is even more shocked and finds his self drawn to her in a way he has never. This is another interesting part of the book for me, the beginning of 1st’s between the two. Ana has a lot of reservations about the contract. He agrees to give her time to think over it. The two have what Grey calls, ‘vanilla sex.’
While going at it again the next morning, their session gets interrupted by the arrival of Mrs. Grey, Christian’s mother. Once having the thought that Grey might be homosexual she is more than please to meet Ana. Grey later takes Ana out to eat, where he reveals to her that he lost his virginity at fifteen to one of his mother’s friends, Elena who Ana refers to as Mrs. Robinson and that his previous dominant/submissive relationships failed due to incompatibility. Christian encourages Ana to research on the contents of the contract and be sure she understands before commiting herself to it. She tells him she doesn’t own a laptop but would use Kate’s later at night.
Ana receives yet another package from Christian. Its the latest Mac a more detailed version of the dominant/submissive contract. This is also the beginning of the email communications between Ms. Steele and CEO Grey Enterprises. Another favourite part of the novel for me.
Ana decides to send him an email teasing him as well as stating that there are several parts to the contract that she will not honor, such as only eating foods from a specific list. Ana later meets up with Grey to discuss the contract, only to grow overwhelmed by the potential BDSM arrangement and the potential of having a sexual relationship with Grey that is not romantic in nature. Because of these feelings avoid Grey but then remembers that he is a guest speaker at her graduation later that week. After the ceremony, Kate goes to meet Ana who is standing with her stepfather Ray, she introduces Christian as Ana’s boyfriend.
After the graduation, Ana begins to warm up to the idea of signing the contract. She meets up with Grey to discuss further the contents of the contract, including her hard and soft limits. She finds herself agreeing to a trial run. Ana is spanked for the first time by Grey, which leaves her both enticed and slightly confused by the interaction. This confusion is exacerbated by Grey’s lavish gifts and Grey bringing her to meet his family. Despite this, the two continue on with the arrangement without Ana having yet signed the contract.
The whole situation becomes so overwhelming for Ana that she decides to take a breather by going to see her mom in Georgia. After a morning spent shopping with her mother, they decide to head to the beach where she decided to send Christian an email. He replies and another email conversation begins. She reads on of his replies and is stocked by its contents, she looks up and its Christian (the stalker, the ever so sexy stalker – you will understand better if you read the book) standing in front of her. She introduces him to her mum who is becomes speechless by his presence. After a brief introduction and having drinks on Grey, he decides to retreat to his hotel room. Her mum then encourages her to go talk to Christian stating that its obvious that he has true feelings for her, after all he did fly 5000 miles to see her.
Though Christian isn’t totally into the idea of Ana working, she lands an internship with SIP, a publish in house in Seattle. As they continue to meet up and discuss the contents of the contract, Ana begins to wonder what it would be like if she signs the contract, who far would she be able to go in a BDSM relationship. She tend asks Grey to purnish her, to show her how bad it can be. He bends her over his leg and spanks her 6 times. Overwhelmed by the pain, she get up and shouts at him, “is this what you like” she goes on saying, “well, you are one fucked-up son of a bitch.” She walks out of the playroom. She makes up her mind, even though she found herself in love with a psycho, there is no way she can be in a relationship with someone like Grey, she realises at that point that they are incompatible, he wants a someone to be dominate and she wants romance and flowers. She leaves him.
That the end of part one.
Till the I finish the next novel
